NC - Currie (NC-210) - Moores Creek National Battlefield

Written by Lee Wonnacott.

1,000 Colonial Patriots, mostly Scots, were attacked here by 1,600 Tory militia. The Scots used broadsword, musket and canon fire to defeat the English force. Their victory here ensure the English would no longer control North Carolina. GREAT stop for history geeks and Americans interested in the battles that created our nation.

It's located off the beaten path and usually very quiet here. Offer a really good opportunity to picnic and rest a while. The walking tour of the battle area is extremely scenic as it wends its' way through some swamp areas.
