Pageland, SC to Monroe, NC

Another of those relaxing alternatives to US-601, SC-207 and NC-207 combine for a 22 mile ride between Pageland, SC and Monroe, NC.

Although both highways (SC & NC) are rural roads, there is quite a difference between them.

The route starts from the intersection SC-9 and Elm St at the west side of Pageland. From there to the North Carolina state line is generally straight, but reasonably hilly and the roadway itself is rife with long patches. It's mildly scenic with pine forest areas right up to the roadway, and many poultry and horse farms to see.

The North Carolina stretch into Monroe is in very good shape. It's not as hilly, but there is a reasonable number of nice curves and the scenery seems much more open and the roadside actually cleaner.

Fuel is available at both ends, but not between the points. There is a small intersection hamlet called Altan about three miles north of the border, but no good reason to stop and visit ...
