Begin US-123 to Clemson, SC

The Toccoa area offers many excellent touring roads and US-123 is a fine example. It begins as a four lane, divided highway, with great scenery, but lacking in any adventurous atmosphere. If you want to avoid lots of traffic and enjoy a slower pace, you might consider using GA-17 Alt eastbound into town. It's not the fancy, well kept, road that US-123 is, but it has that special flavor of a north Georgia motorcycle road.

US-123 Continues as a two lane road from Toccoa to the state line and into Westminster, SC where it goes back to four lane. Traffic can sometimes be a bother during weekdays, but weekend and early evening are usually light and always scenic.

Major Crossroads

Clemson, SC to Greenville, SC

Clemson is a college town and you should expect the traffic flow to reflect that fact. This stretch of US-123 is really just a commuter corridor for the folks that live east of the city. It's wide, often busy, and offers little in the way of scenery. Consider SC-93 as your adventure alternate for much of the route. It's slower, but you bought your bike to enjoy the road, right?
