The simple brick presentation isn't elegant, but that doesn't make it any less impressive as it honors each and every known veteran of Gladwin County.
The two Civl War Howitzer cannons spent some time at the bottom of Escambia Bay in Pensacola, Florida. They were mounted aboard a ship that was sunken there. Nothing indicates if it was a Union or Confederate ship, although it is most likely they were mounted on a Union vessel.
It's easy to miss this memorial, located under the trees at the corner of the Gladwin County Courthouse.
