Still standing tall and proud, this CSA soldier looks over the land called home
UDC Chapter 1025 Memorial -
City Hall, US-52 Albemarle, Stanly County

"In honor of the
Confederate soliders
of Stanly County.
Erected by
Albemarle Chapter
No. 1025 U.D.C.
1925 "

"We care not whence they came dear in their lifeless clay; Whether unknown or known to fame. Their Cause and Country still the same. They died - and wore the gray."

The prominent placement of this memorial, on the city's main street, shows the pride of a small community for the efforts made by previous generation. In 1925, most of the soldiers in gray had already died but their service was still clearly felt.

"The tumult and shouting dies, the Captains and Kings depart, Lord, God of hosts be with us yet, lest we forget, lest we forget."

Finely scuplted figure atop the pedestal is nicely done
