This monument is erected commemorating the heoric part taken by the 50th Regt. N.C. Volunteers in the great Battle of
Chickamauga, Sept 20, 1863
Here is was given post of honor by State Commission appointed in 1893 to locate the position of each N.C. Regt in
that battle and a marker placed on eastern margin of Lafayette Pike and Kelly's Field bearing this inscription
Obviously the Daughters of The Confederacy were proud of their fathers and their deeds a Chickamauga. The sad part is that this monument has really been ravaged by time in the elements and much of the inscription can't be reliably read by visitors. I attempted to find the text on a website, but could find nothing.
This stone is erected by the Ladies Auxilliary of Thomas W Patton Camp No. 5
