Relatively new memorial area

  Some memorials are simple, others ornate, but most do make some attempt to explain the sentiment of the citizens that have erected the presentation and of those that served. This one does neither.

A series of markers name those killed in action, the dates of several wars, the sponsors, and the working committee that put it all together. Any attempt to place it all into context is missing. Maybe the citizens of the county find it amply dedicated by the sacrifices of those named on these markers. In that regard we should all take a hint that service and sacrifice need no inspiring platitudes to honor them. They have already done that for themselves.

  A stone is set for each major war, or conflict, from The Great War through VietNam and displays a different service seal - unfortunately this provides a way to neglect any recgonition of the US Coast Guard or Merchant Marine.
