Stanly Gardens & Memorial Park

This a a very large and pleasant memorial garden, still trying to establish how it will best serve the community. That's always the case with a project like this. Foremost, it is a memorial to those all that served and the few that died. But, it also stands as a place where citizens of the community will gather in coming years to rest a moment and enjoy the peace and serenity the service of those veterans has brought to the area.
Each major conflict era is defined, although it seems to miss the Spanish-American, Mexican, and Seminole Indian wars.
The inscribed bricks hold more than just a name, they offer the visitor the opportunity to find some common ground with
the veteran; a birthday, date of entry or exit from service, a unit, or service locale.
The inscribed paving bricks, benches, and lamp posts all serve to honor specific veterans. Undoubtably, some in this community will tell their grandchildren about a favorite relative that is honored here. It is in this way the park will earn that measure of reverence the designers sought.
