The Medal of Honor reciepients listed here represent several acts of uncommon bravery. The latest one was performed by a Findlay native, Lt Donald A Gary, USN. He was an engineering officer aboard the USS Franklin in 1945 when a Japanese attack severely damaged the aircraft carrier. Gary, despite the obvious risk to himself, repeatedly struggled through fire and smoke to assist several men that were trapped below decks. His actions not only earned the citation, but promotion to Commander.
